Chapter 13

Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject to the higher powers. For there is no power but by God: the powers that are, are appointed by God.

Romans 13:2 Therefore whoever resists the power, resists the ordinance of God: and they that resist will receive to themselves damnation.

Romans 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Will you then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and you will have praise of the same:

Romans 13:4 for he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he carries not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath on him that does evil.

Romans 13:5 Therefore you must be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

Romans 13:6 For this reason pay tribute also: for they are God’s servants, attending continually on this very thing.

Romans 13:7 Therefore give to all that is due: tribute to whom tribute is due; taxes to whom tax is due; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.

Romans 13:8 Owe no man anything, except to love one another: for he that loves one another has fulfilled the Law.

Romans 13:9 For this, you will not commit adultery, you will not murder, you will not steal, you will not bear false witness, you will not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly summarized in this saying, namely, you will love your neighbor as yourself.

Romans 13:10 Love works no harm to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the Law.

Romans 13:11 So that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our deliverance closer than when we believed.

Romans 13:12 The night is advancing, the day is approaching: therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

Romans 13:13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in sleeping around and sexual debauchery, not in contention and jealousy.

Romans 13:14 But you put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts of it.
