Chapter 8

Matt. 8:1 When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him.

Matt. 8:2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshiped Him, saying, Lord, if You will, You can make me clean.

Matt. 8:3 Then Jesus put out His hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be clean. Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Matt. 8:4 Then Jesus said to him, see you tell no man; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.

Matt. 8:5 When Jesus had entered into Capernaum, there came to Him a centurion, pleading Him,

Matt. 8:6 and saying, Lord, my young child lies at home paralyzed, grievously tormented.

Matt. 8:7 Then Jesus said to him, I will come and heal him.

Matt. 8:8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my young child will be healed.

Matt. 8:9 For I am also a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, go, and he goes; and to another, come, and he comes; and to my slave, do this, and he does it.

Matt. 8:10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to them that followed, truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith, no, not even in Israel!

Matt. 8:11 And I say to you, that many will come from the east and west, and will sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of the heavens.

Matt. 8:12 But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness: there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matt. 8:13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, go your way; and as you have believed, so it is done to you. And his young child was healed in the very same hour.

Matt. 8:14 When Jesus arrived at Peter’s house, Peter’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever.

Matt. 8:15 Then He touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she rose, and served them.

Matt. 8:16 When the evening had come, they brought to Him many that were possessed with demons: and He cast out the spirits with a word and healed all that were sick:

Matt. 8:17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, He took our infirmities, and bore our sicknesses.

Matt. 8:18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about Him, He gave commandment to depart to the other side.

Matt. 8:19 And a certain scribe came, and said to him, Master, I will follow You wherever You go.

Matt. 8:20 Then Jesus said to him, the foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has no place to lay His head.

Matt. 8:21 Another of His disciples said to Him, Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.

Matt. 8:22 But Jesus said to him, follow Me; and let the dead bury their dead.

Matt. 8:23 When He had entered into a boat, His disciples followed Him.

Matt. 8:24 And, behold, there arose a great storm in the sea, so much so that the boat was covered with the waves: but He was asleep.

Matt. 8:25 His disciples came to Him, and woke Him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

Matt. 8:26 But He said to them, why are you fearful, O you of little faith? Then He rose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

Matt. 8:27 But the men marveled, saying, what manner of Man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him!

Matt. 8:28 When He had come to the other side into the country of the Gaderenes, there met Him two possessed with demons, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no man was able to pass by that way.

Matt. 8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, what do we have to do with You, Jesus, O Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?

Matt. 8:30 There was a good way off from them a herd of many pigs feeding.

Matt. 8:31 So the demons begged Him, saying, if you cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of pigs.

Matt. 8:32 Then He said to them, go. When they came out, they went into the herd of pigs: and behold, the whole herd of pigs ran violently down a steep slope into the sea and perished in the waters.

Matt. 8:33 Then they that kept them fled, and went their way into the city, and told everything, and what had happened to those possessed by the demons.

Matt. 8:34 Then behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw Him, they begged Him to depart out of their borders.
