Chapter 25

Matt. 25:1 Then will the kingdom of the heavens be likened unto ten virgins, who held their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

Matt. 25:2 Five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

Matt. 25:3 They that were foolish held their lamps yet had no oil with them:

Matt. 25:4 but the wise had oil in their vessels with their lamps.

Matt. 25:5 While the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

Matt. 25:6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go out to meet him.

Matt. 25:7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.

Matt. 25:8 The foolish said to the wise, give us of your oil; for our lamps are going out.

Matt. 25:9 But the wise answered, saying, no; there is not enough for us and you: but you go rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

Matt. 25:10 So while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

Matt. 25:11 Afterward also came the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

Matt. 25:12 But he answered and said, truly, I say to you, I do not know you.

Matt. 25:13 Therefore watch, for you know neither the day nor the season in which the Son of man comes.

Matt. 25:14 For the kingdom of the heavens is as a man traveling into a far country, who called his own slaves, and delivered to them his possessions.

Matt. 25:15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his own ability; and immediately took his journey.

Matt. 25:16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same and made them another five talents.

Matt. 25:17 Likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

Matt. 25:18 But he that had received one went and dug in the earth and hid his lord’s money.

Matt. 25:19 After a long time the lord of those slaves came and settled accounts with them.

Matt. 25:20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought more talents, saying, Lord, you delivered to me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

Matt. 25:21 His lord said to him, well done, you good and faithful servant: you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter you into the joy of your lord.

Matt. 25:22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, you delivered to me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

Matt. 25:23 His lord said to him, well done, good and faithful slave; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter you into the joy of your lord.

Matt. 25:24 Then he who had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered:

Matt. 25:25 so I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground: look, there you have that which is yours.

Matt. 25:26 His lord answered and said to him, you wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I have not scattered:

Matt. 25:27 therefore you ought to have put my money with the bankers, and then at my coming I should have received my own with interest.

Matt. 25:28 Therefore take the talent from him and give it to him who has ten talents.

Matt. 25:29 For to everyone that has will be given and he will have abundance: but from him that has not, even what he has will be taken away.

Matt. 25:30 Now cast that unprofitable slave into outer darkness: there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matt. 25:31 When the Son of man will come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit upon the throne of His glory:

Matt. 25:32 and before Him will be gathered all this people: and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats:

Matt. 25:33 and He will place the sheep by His right, but the goats on the left.

Matt. 25:34 Then the King will say to them on his right, come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you before the downfall of the world:

Matt. 25:35 for I was hungry, and you gave Me food: I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink: I was a stranger, and you welcomed Me in:

Matt. 25:36 Naked, and you clothed Me: I was sick, and you visited Me: I was in prison, and you came to Me.

Matt. 25:37 Then will the righteous answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see You hungry, and fed You? Or thirsty, and gave You a drink?

Matt. 25:38 When did we see You a stranger, and welcomed You in? Or naked, and clothed You?

Matt. 25:39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and visited You?

Matt. 25:40 Then the King will answer and say to them, truly I say to you, in as much as you have done it to one of the least of these My brothers, you have done it to Me.

Matt. 25:41 Then He will say also to them on the left, depart from Me, you cursed, into the fire perpetually, prepared for the Devil and his messengers:

Matt. 25:42 for I was hungry, and you gave Me no food: I was thirsty, and you gave Me no drink:

Matt. 25:43 I was a stranger, and you welcomed Me not in: naked, and you clothed Me not: sick, and in prison, and you visited Me not.

Matt. 25:44 They then will also answer Him, saying, Lord, when were You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and we did not help You?

Matt. 25:45 Then He will answer them, saying, truly I say to you, in as much as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.

Matt. 25:46 And these will go away into perpetual punishment: but the righteous into infinite life.
