Chapter 19

Matt. 19:1 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, He departed from Galilee, and came into the borders of Judea beyond the Jordan;

Matt. 19:2 so great multitudes followed Him; and He healed them there.

Matt. 19:3 The Pharisees also came to Him, tempting Him, and said to Him, Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?

Matt. 19:4 Then He answered and said to them, have you not read, that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female,

Matt. 19:5 And said, for this reason will a man leave father and mother, and will cleave to his wife: and they two will become one flesh?

Matt. 19:6 Therefore they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate.

Matt. 19:7 They said to Him, why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorce, and to put her away?

Matt. 19:8 He said to them, Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.

Matt. 19:9 For I say to you, whoever will divorce his wife, unless it is for fornication, and will marry another, commits adultery: and whoever marries her who is divorced does commit adultery.

Matt. 19:10 His disciples said to Him, if this is the case between a man and his wife, it is not good to marry.

Matt. 19:11 But He said to them, all men cannot receive this saying, except they to whom it is given.

Matt. 19:12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some which were made eunuchs by men: and there be some which have renounced marriage for the kingdom of the heavens’ sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

Matt. 19:13 Then little children there were brought to Him, that He should put His hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.

Matt. 19:14 But Jesus said, permit little children, and do not forbid them to come to Me: for of such is the kingdom of the heavens.

Matt. 19:15 And He laid His hands on them, and departed from there.

Matt. 19:16 Then, behold, one came and said to him, Good Master, what good thing will I do, that I may have eternal life?

Matt. 19:17 And He said to him, why do you call Me good? There is none good but one, that is, God: but if you will enter into life, keep the commandments.

Matt. 19:18 He said to Him, Which? Jesus said, you will not murder, You will not commit adultery, You will not steal, You will not bear false witness,

Matt. 19:19 Honor your father and your mother: and, You will love your neighbor as yourself.

Matt. 19:20 The young man said to Him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what do I still lack?

Matt. 19:21 Jesus said to him, If you will be mature, go and sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven: and come and follow Me.

Matt. 19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

Matt. 19:23 Then said Jesus to His disciples, truly I say to you, that a rich man will hardly enter into the kingdom of the heavens.

Matt. 19:24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Matt. 19:25 When His disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, who then can be saved?

Matt. 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said to them, with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Matt. 19:27 Then answered Peter and said to Him, behold, we have forsaken all, and followed You; what therefore will we have?

Matt. 19:28 And Jesus said to them, truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of man will sit in the throne of His glory, you also will sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Matt. 19:29 And everyone that has forsaken houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My name’s sake, will receive a hundred fold, and will inherit infinite life.

Matt. 19:30 But many that are first will be last; and the last will be first.
