Chapter 7

John 7:1 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for He would not walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill Him.

John 7:2 Now the Jew’s Feast of Tabernacles was at hand.

John 7:3 Therefore His brothers said to Him, Depart from here to Judea, that Your disciples may also see the works that You are doing.

John 7:4 For there is no man that does anything in secret, when He Himself seeks to be known publicly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.

John 7:5 For neither did His brothers believe in Him.

John 7:6 Then Jesus said to them, My time is not yet come: but your time is always ready.

John 7:7 The world cannot hate you; but it hates Me, because I testify of it, that the works of it are evil.

John 7:8 Go you up to this feast: I go not up yet to this feast: for My time has not yet fully come.

John 7:9 When He had said these words to them, He stayed still in Galilee.

John 7:10 But when His brothers were gone up, then went He also up to the feast, not publicly, but as it were in secret.

John 7:11 Then the Jews sought Him at the feast, and said, where is He?

John 7:12 For there was much murmuring among the people concerning Him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, no; but He deceives the people.

John 7:13 However no one spoke publicly about Him for fear of the Jews.

John 7:14 Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.

John 7:15 So the Jews marveled, saying, how knows this man letters, having never learned?

John 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My teaching is not Mine, but His that sent Me.

John 7:17 If anyone will do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it be of God, or whether I speak by Myself.

John 7:18 He that speaks of himself seeks his own glory: but He that seeks the glory of Him that sent him, the same is authentic, and no unrighteousness is in Him.

John 7:19 Did not Moses give you the Law, and yet none of you keeps the Law? Why do you try to kill Me?

John 7:20 The people answered and said, You have a demon: who tries to kill You?

John 7:21 Jesus answered and said to them, I have done one work, and you all marvel.

John 7:22 Therefore Moses gave to you circumcision; (not because it came from Moses, but from the fathers) and you on the Sabbath day circumcise a man.

John 7:23 If a man on the Sabbath day receive circumcision, that the Law of Moses should not be broken; are you angry at Me, because I have made a man every bit whole on the Sabbath day?

John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

John 7:25 Then some of them said of Jerusalem, is not this He, who they seek to kill?

John 7:26 But, look, He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the true Christ?

John 7:27 However we know where this man is from: but when Christ comes, no man will know where He is from.

John 7:28 Then Jesus cried in the temple as He taught, saying, you both know Me, and you know where I am from: and I have not come of Myself, but He that sent Me is real, who You know not.

John 7:29 But I know Him: for I am from Him, and He has sent Me!

John 7:30 Then they sought to take Him: but no man laid hands on Him, because His hour had not yet come.

John 7:31 Yet many of the people believed in Him, and said, when Christ comes, will He do more miracles than these which this man has done?

John 7:32 The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning Him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him.

John 7:33 Then Jesus said to them, still a little while I am with you, and then I go to Him that sent Me.

John 7:34 You will seek Me, and will not find Me: and where I am, there you cannot come.

John 7:35 Then the Jews said among themselves, where is He about to go, that we will not find Him? Will He go to the dispersed among the nations, and teach the nations?

John 7:36 What manner of saying is this that He said, you will seek Me, and will not find Me: and where I am, there you cannot come?

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, if anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me, and drink.

John 7:38 He that believes on Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his deepest inner part will flow rivers of living water!

John 7:39 But this He spoke of the Spirit, who they that believe in Him should receive: for the Holy Spirit was not yet given; because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

John 7:40 Therefore many of the people, when they heard this saying, said, really, this is the Prophet.

John 7:41 Others said, this is the Christ. But some said, will Christ come out of Galilee?

John 7:42 Has not the Scripture said, that Christ comes of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

John 7:43 So there was a division among the people because of Him.

John 7:44 For some of them would have taken Him; but no man laid hands on Him.

John 7:45 Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said to them, why have you not taken Him?

John 7:46 The officers answered, never has a man spoke like this man.

John 7:47 Then the Pharisees answered them, are you also deceived?

John 7:48 Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him?

John 7:49 But these people who do not know the Law are cursed.

John 7:50 Nicodemus said to them, he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,

John 7:51 does our Law judge anyone, before it hears him, and knows what he has done?

John 7:52 They answered and said to him, are you also of Galilee? Search and look: for out of Galilee arises no prophet.

John 7:53 So everyone went to his own house.
