Chapter 13

John 13:1 Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

John 13:2 Now supper being ended, the devil having put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him;

John 13:3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God, and went to God;

John 13:4 He rose from supper, and laid aside His outer clothing; and wrapped a towel around His waist.

John 13:5 After that He poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.

John 13:6 Then came He to Simon Peter: and Peter said to Him, Lord, do you wash My feet?

John 13:7 Jesus answered and said to him, what I do you do not understand now; but you will know after this.

John 13:8 Peter says to Him, no You will not wash my feet in this age. Jesus answered him, if I do not wash you, you will not hold a portion with Me.

John 13:9 Simon Peter said to Him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

John 13:10 Jesus said to him, he that has bathed does not need to wash except for his feet, but is entirely clean: and you are clean, but not each one of you.

John 13:11 For He knew who should betray Him; therefore He said, you are not all clean.

John 13:12 So after He had washed their feet, and had taken His garments, and had sat down again, He said to them, do you know what I have done to you?

John 13:13 You call Me Master and Lord: and you say well; for so I am.

John 13:14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

John 13:15 For I have given you a pattern, that you should do as I have done to you.

John 13:16 Truly, truly, I say to you, the servant is not greater than his master; neither is He that is sent greater than He that sent Him.

John 13:17 If you know these things, happy are you if you do them.

John 13:18 I speak not of you all: I know who I have chosen: but that the Scripture be fulfilled, he that eats My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.

John 13:19 Now I tell you before it comes, that, when it comes to pass, you may believe that I am.

John 13:20 Truly, truly, I say to you, he that receives whoever I send receives Me; and he that receives Me receives Him that sent Me.

John 13:21 When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, truly, truly, I say to you,that one of you will betray Me.

John 13:22 Then the disciples looked at one another, unsure of who He spoke about.

John 13:23 Now there was one of His disciples leaning on Jesus’ chest, who Jesus loved.

John 13:24 Therefore Simon Peter motioned to him, that he should ask who it is that He is speaking about.

John 13:25 One who was leaning on Jesus’ chest said to Him, Lord, who is it?

John 13:26 Jesus answered, it is he, to whom I will give a piece of bread, when I have dipped it. When He had dipped the piece of bread, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

John 13:27 After the piece of bread Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to him, what you are about to do, do quickly.

John 13:28 Now no man at the table knew for what purpose He spoke this to him.

John 13:29 For some of them thought, because Judas had the moneybox, that Jesus had said to him, buy those things that we have need of for the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.

John 13:30 He then having received the piece of bread went immediately out: and it was night.

John 13:31 Therefore, when he had gone out, Jesus said, now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in Him.

John 13:32 If God be glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will immediately glorify Him.

John 13:33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek Me: and as I said to the Jews, where I go, you cannot come; so now I say to you.

John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

John 13:35 By this will all men know that you are My disciples, if you have love one to another.

John 13:36 Simon Peter said to Him, Lord, where do You go? Jesus answered him, where I go, you cannot follow Me now; but you will follow Me afterwards.

John 13:37 Peter said to Him, Lord, why can’t I follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake.

John 13:38 Jesus answered him, will you lay down your life for My sake? Truly, truly, I say to you, the rooster will not crow, until you have denied Me three times.
