Chapter 10

1st Cor.10:1 Moreover, brothers, I would not that you should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

1st Cor.10:2 and were all immersed to Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

1st Cor.10:3 and did all eat the same spiritual food;

1st Cor.10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

1st Cor.10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were thrown down in the wilderness.

1st Cor.10:6 Now these were types of us, to the intent we should not lust after evil, as they also lusted.

1st Cor.10:7 Neither be idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

1st Cor.10:8 Neither let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and fell in one day twenty-three thousand.

1st Cor.10:9 Neither let us tempt the Christ, as some of them also tempted and were destroyed by serpents.

1st Cor.10:10 Do not be murmuring, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

1st Cor.10:11 Now all these things happened to them as types of us: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the end of the age has come.

1st Cor.10:12 Therefore let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he be falling.

1st Cor.10:13 There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not permit you to be tempted above what you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to endure it.

1st Cor.10:14 Therefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

1st Cor.10:15 I speak as to wise men; judge you what I say.

1st Cor.10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

1st Cor.10:17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all sharing together of that one bread.

1st Cor.10:18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices, companions of the altar?

1st Cor.10:19 What do I say then? That the idol is anything, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is anything?

1st Cor.10:20 But I say that the things which the pagans sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God: and I do not want you to have companionship with demons.

1st Cor.10:21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons: you cannot be partakers of the Lord’s Table, and of the table of demons.

1st Cor.10:22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

1st Cor.10:23 All things are lawful for me, but not all things bring cohesiveness: all things are lawful for me, but all things do not build the house.

1st Cor.10:24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s well-being.

1st Cor.10:25 Whatever is sold in the meat market, eat it, asking no question for conscience’s sake:

1st Cor.10:26 for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness of it.

1st Cor.10:27 If any of them that believe not invite you to a feast, and you be disposed to go; whatever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience’s sake.

1st Cor.10:28 But if any man says to you, this is offered in sacrifice to idols, eat not for his sake that showed it, and for conscience’s sake: for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness of it:

1st Cor.10:29 Conscience, I say, not your own, but of the other: for why is my freedom judged of another man’s conscience?

1st Cor.10:30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

1st Cor.10:31 Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

1st Cor.10:32 Give no offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Greeks, nor to the Assembly of God:

1st Cor.10:33 just as I please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
